Steve Album sale 30, lot 917
Lebanon SA30-917r.jpg

This specimen was lot 917 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $329. The catalog description[1] noted, "LEBANON: Republic, 50 piastres, 1971, only 10 examples known, PCGS graded Specimen-66, RRR, ex King's Norton Mint Collection." This was issued 1968-78. In 1980, a vicious war broke out between Christian and Muslim militias and soon the Israeli and Syrian armies were occupying various parts of that unhappy land. The cedar is the symbol of Lebanon, once forested with this handsome tree.

Recorded mintage: 2,000,000.

Specification: nickel.

Catalog reference: KM-28.1.
