This specimen was lot 29851 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $2,115. The catalog description[1] noted, "George I Farthing 1719 MS64 Red and Brown PCGS, Royal mint. Large Letters variety. Finest known quality for the date, with blue tinged coloration over the exposed surfaces and glowing original reddish highlights within the protected areas. A dearth of marks confirms the most-impressive near-Gem designation, and fully validates this piece as worthy of an elite British cabinet." This type was struck 1719-24 and is common up thru Fine condition. Proofs exist for 1719.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: copper.
