This specimen was lot 46029 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $50. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. 2 Pence (Turner), ND (1663). Edinburgh Mint; mm: rosette. Charles II. NGC Fine Details--Environmental Damage. Dark olive-brown patina with old scratches noted at the centers. An interesting subtype with the denomination boldly stated in the obverse field. From the Loch Ness Collection." After the Restoration, tuppence and sixpence were struck in Scotland in copper. The Scottish sixpence was equal to an Engish half penny while the copper tuppence or turner did not have an exact equivalent. This type was struck circa 1663 and is noted as common in low grade. The denomination was last struck in 1697.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: copper.
