This specimen was lot 333 in Sincona sale 46 (Zurich, May 2018), where it sold for 700 CHF (about US$840 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Frankreich, Charles X. 1589-1598. Ecu dor au soleil 1593, Rouen. Sehr schön. Leichte Fassungsspuren. (kingdom of France, pretender Charles X, 1589-98, écu d'or of the sunburst of 1593, Rouen mint. Very fine, Minor traces of mounting.)"
Charles X was actually the pretender put up by the Catholic League in opposition to Henry IV, who had converted from Protestantism. This Cardinal never ruled France as he was a prisoner of Henry IV.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.37 g, .958 fine gold, this specimen 3.36 g.
