Künker Auction 441, lot 5087

This specimen was lot 5087 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,339 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NORWEGEN, KÖNIGREICH Christian V., 1670-1699. Krone (4 Mark) 1699, Kongsberg. Feine Patina, winz. Kratzer, vorzüglich. Exemplar der Sammlung Münzen und Medaillen aus adeligem Privatbesitz. (kingdom of Norway, Christian V, 1670-99, krone of four mark of 1699, Kongsberg mint.)"

This type was struck 1693-99 with heart mintmark (Copenhagen, KM 428.1) and in 1699 with crossed hammers (Kongsberg, shown here). Davenport uses the same catalog number for both as they vary only in mintmark.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 18 g, 0.833 fine silver, 35 mm diameter, lettered edge, this specimen 18,01 g.

Catalog reference: KM 199, Ahlström 194; Dav-3648 B (listed under Denmark); Thesen 194 A.
