This specimen was lot 21528 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 2 Daler Plate Money, 1724. Fredrik I (1720-51). VERY FINE. 7 x 6.5 in. (Tingstrom: 68 examples known including 37 pieces from the Nicobar). Stamps fairly with the center and two corner stamps having quite fresh lustrous surfaces. The central stamp is bold and very nearly complete with only part of the border lacking. The corner stamps have four full dates and are all essentially complete with only some small bits of the borders missing. Deep brown patina with some lighter highlights. Some dusty mild verdigris is present. Ex: Pittman Collection." This type was issued 1720-50 and is the most common two daler plate. Millions were made but most were melted down to make other copper or bronze objects.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: copper.
