Sincona sale 25, lot 2031

This specimen was lot 2031 in Sincona sale 25 (Zürich, October 2015), where it sold for 11,000 CHF (about US$13,588 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Rana Varma V., 1880-1885 Sovereign 1881. Bust with feather headdress to r., date below. Rev. Two elephants to side of a regal dress and conch. Very rare. Extremely fine to uncirculated. Attractive specimen."

Half sovereigns (Fr-1402) are also reported.

Recorded mintage: 2,000.

Specification: 7.98 g, 0.917 fine gold, lettered edge; this specimen 7.72 g.
