This specimen was lot 29870 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $3,818.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Travancore. Rama Varma IV gold 1877 2 Pagodas MS64 NGC. Lovely, one-year type featuring a beautiful conch shell design atop lightly toned, golden surfaces that possess full mint bloom. Besides a small planchet flaw which is visible on both the obverse and reverse, this coin is incredibly pleasing. Scarce, especially in this premium quality." This rare type was accompanied by a single pagoda.
