This specimen was lot 1439 in Sincona sale 6 (Zürich, May 2012), where it sold for 1500 CHF (about US$1,846 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIEN Genova Doge Biennali, 1528-1797. Scudo 1693. Lilienkreuz, in den Winkeln Lilien, umher vier geflügelte Engelsköpfchen. Rv. Madonna mit Kind auf Wolken, zwei Engel halten Strahlenkranz über ihrem Kopf. Gutes sehr schön. (Italy, republic of Genoa, biennial doges, scudo of 1693. Obverse: floriate cross, with fleur-de-lys and angels' heads in the fields; reverse: Madonna and Child on a cloud while two angels hold a crown of stars; good very fine.)"
The republic of Genoa simultaneously struck scudi stretti, scudo largi (shown here) and double scudi, which weighed 76 grams! This type is listed for 1649-1719.
