Sincona sale 39, lot 4164

This specimen was lot 4164 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 80 CHF (about US$96 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"AUSTRIA, Franz II. (I.), 1792-1835 Taler 1821 V. Venedig. Sehr schön. (empire of Austria, Francis I, 1792-1835, thaler of 1821, Venice mint. Very fine.)"

This thaler was issued 1817-24 from six mints and is common. This one likely circulated in Lombardy-Venetia.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.
