This specimen was lot 25011 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Nidwalden 5 Francs, 1861. NGC MS-63. Struck to commemorate the shooting festival in Nidwalden. Sharply struck with light attractive tone and strong underlying soft satin luster. Ex: Stack's Bowers & Ponterio 06/2011 sale, lot# 8558." This is the sixth in a series of "shooting festival thalers" issued by the confederation of Switzerland, starting with Solothurn (Dav-377, 1855), Bern (Dav-378, 1857), Zurich ([[Switzerland 1859 5 francs|Dav-379]], 1859), Nidwalden (Dav-380, 1861) and La Chaux-de-Fonds ([[Switzerland 1863 5 francs|Dav-381]], 1863). The series continues to the present day but at some point they ceased to be legal tender and became strictly medals.
