Stack's Bowers February 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72564

This specimen was lot 72564 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "BULGARIA. 20 Leva, 1979. Sofia Mint. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Celebrating 100 years of Sofia as the capital of Bulgaria. A near-perfect example with deeply mirrored fields and frosty devices." This NCLT was struck in different formats for the BU (KM 106) and proofs (KM 106a).

Recorded mintage: 35,000 plus 15,000 proofs.

Specification: 21.8 g, 0.500 fine silver, proofs (KM 106a) 32 g, 0.900 fine silver.
