This specimen was lot 3343 in Goldberg sale 84 (Los Angeles, January 2015), where it sold for $494. The catalog description[1] noted, "Colombia. Escudo, 1802-P JF. Charles IV. Lovely original mint luster. Only one graded higher. NGC graded AU-58." This type was struck at Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) and Popayán 1791-1808 and is a common gold coin of Charles IV. Assayer JF is recorded for 1792-1808.
