This specimen was lot 71593 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "HONG KONG. Cent, 1902. London Mint. NGC MS-64 Brown. KM-11. Retaining a great deal of lustrous brilliance and some lighter mint red originality, this near-Gem stands as a great example of the type." Hong Kong was seized by the British from China in 1842 and held by them until its return in 1997. In Hong Kong, 100 cents = one dollar; sterling coinage was never used there. This type was struck 1902-05.
Recorded mintage: 5,000,000.
Specification: 7.5 g, bronze, 27.7 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-11.
