Sincona sale 98, lot 4256

This specimen was lot 4256 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, 3 Sols 1689, Genf. Mzz. RGS. Selten. Schön-sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Geneva, three sols of 1689, Geneva mint. Rare, Fine-Very Fine.)"

This obscure type was struck 1689 only with mintmarks -RGS, -SGR and -SRIE. It is only the second coin we have listed for this canton between 1659 and 1702.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specifications: 1.73 g, billon, 22 mm diameter, this specimen 1.66 g.
