This type was struck 1893-1901 and is the final type for Queen Victoria (r. 1837-1901). It is the most readily available shilling in nice condition and none of the dates are rare. This specimen was lot 4347 in Goldberg sale 84 (Los Angeles, January 2015), where it sold for $329. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Shilling, 1899. Victoria. Gem mint state with a light golden peripheral tone. Few uncirculated coins of this era have the frost originality of this specimen. From a small hoard discovered in England. Scarcer date. NGC graded MS-66."
Recorded mintage: 10,965,000, a common date.
Specification: 5.65 g, 0.925 fine silver, .168 troy oz ASW.
