Sincona sale 63, lot 1261
southeast France at the end of the Hundred Years War

This specimen was lot 1261 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$176 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALY | Vatican - Church State, Sixtus V. 1585-1590. 6 Bianchi 1587, Avignon. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Übliche Prägeschwäche. Unregelmässiger Schrötling. (Italy, Papal States, Sixtus V, 1585-90, six bianchi of 1587, Avignon mint. Very fine-extremely fine, With the usual weak strike, Irregular flan.)"

Berman notes this type for 1586-90 along with a teston and a six bianchi struck in the name of the local legate.
