Goldberg sale 100, lot 2490
Lorraine G100-2490r.jpg

This specimen was lot 2490 in Goldberg sale 100 (Los Angeles, September 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Lorraine. Teston, 1629. Franz II. Bust right. Reverse: Crowned arms. Surface scrape. Toned. About Very Fine." This type was issued in Lorraine 1626-31 in the name of Francis II tho he abdicated in favor of Charles III soon after attaining the throne. Lorraine in the early seventeenth century was in the borderlands between France and Germany and was contested between them. In 1629, she was still part of the Empire but the duke was a French client.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 9.1 g, silver, 30 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-35.
