This specimen was lot 830 in Stack's Coin Galleries sale (New York, October 2010), where it sold for $2,760. The catalog description[1] noted,
"POLAND. Danzig. Jan III Sobieski, 1674-1696. Ducat, 1677 DL. Daniel Lesse. Laureate draped bust r., large-letter legend, IOAN. III. REX POL. M.D. L.R.P. Rv. Lions support oval city Arms, MON. AUREA. CIVITAT. GEDANENS. Faint waviness of planchet, wealth of detail, a splendid coin of the warrior monarch who saved Vienna. Choice Very Fine."
Ducats were struck all over Europe as trade coins. This Polish issue is known dated 1677 and 1682.
