The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Great Britain]]: William & Mary gold 5 Guineas 1694 XF45 PCGS. SEXTO edge. The final Five Guineas of William & Mary's joint reign, its design entirely unique for the series. Pleasing for the grade, with clearly original canary-yellow surfaces exhibiting mild residual luster at the peripheries and crisp striking detail. This example is particularly notable for its lack of the edge knocks which so many others feature. A thoroughly satisfying representative of one of Britain's most popular denominations." This type also comes with the elephant and castle hallmark, indicating gold sourced from Africa.

No evidence of cleaning is seen, and marks, while present as one might expect of a circulated gold coin, are evenly placed with no instance commanding attention. What's more, charming tone that ranges from orange to red appears over both sides and serves to warm the appearance, while building up its character. Altogether, a wonderful example; sure to bring great pleasure to the owner of the next collection it enters." The first specimen was lot 32201 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $13,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: William & Mary gold 5 Guineas 1694 XF45 PCGS. SEXTO edge. The final Five Guineas of William & Mary's joint reign, its design entirely unique for the series. Pleasing for the grade, with clearly original canary-yellow surfaces exhibiting mild residual luster at the peripheries and crisp striking detail. This example is particularly notable for its lack of the edge knocks which so many others feature. A thoroughly satisfying representative of one of Britain's most popular denominations."
