This specimen was lot 31185 in Heritage sale 3089 (Dallas, TX, January 2021), where it sold for $24,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Anne gold Guinea 1710 MS64+ NGC. Third Bust. An exceptional near-gem example whose certification just shy of a gem "65" grade designation places it as the absolute finest example yet seen by either PCGS or NGC. When one examines the surfaces of the piece this impressive distinction is easily justified, sun-gold brilliance cascading across the planchet and highlighting raised devices rendered to exact calculation. Bold, alluring, and without a hint of striking weakness, this top-tier Anne Guinea is poised to draw ample bidder attention." This type, struck 1710-14, is the most available guinea of the reign.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 8.35 g, 0.917 fine gold.
Catalog reference: KM 534, S-3574, Fr-320, Schneider-Unl.
