Mexico 1756 2 escudos rev DSLR.jpg

All Mexican colonial gold may be considered scarce. This type was struck 1752-56. This specimen is very similar to the Eliasberg specimen but it does not seem to be the same one. It was superseded by KM 127, struck 1757-59, which used a smaller bust. The "2 S", formerly on the reverse, was restored in 1773.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.917 fine gold, .199 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Cayón-10762, Fr-19; KM 126.2.
