This specimen was lot 70671 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "FINLAND. 5 Pennia, 1908. Helsinki Mint. Nicholas II of Russia. PCGS AU-58. Lightly circulated, this attractive example presents chocolate color and is exceedingly attractive." This type is listed for 1896-1917 and was struck for Finland by the czarist administration. Russian defeats in World War One enabled the Finns, who had long chafed under Russian rule, to declare independence. This date is common.
