This specimen was lot 41383 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "[[Peru|PERU]]. 1/4 Real, 1851/21-LIMA. Lima Mint. NGC MS-61. Shimmery and attractive, this 1/4 Real showcases a clear overdate amid a light mottling of tone. From the EMO Collection." This type was struck at Lima 1826-56. The date is listed in the SCWC as slightly better. All Peruvian minors are scarcer in nice condition than the catalog values would indicate; among the quarter reales, only the 1855 is frequently seen. Many overdates are listed, including 1851/21 and 1851/31.
