Stack's Bowers September 2025 Collectors Choice Online Auction, lot 76204
SB925-76204r.jpg

This specimen was lot 76204 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. Rial, SH 1324 (1945). Tehran Mint. Muhammad Reza Pahlavi. PCGS MS-64." Among other reforms of Reza Pahlavi, the traditional AH calendar, based on lunar months, was dropped in favor of the SH calendar, which matched the Gregorian calendar except that its start date was that of the Hegira. Thus, SH 1324 = 1945 AD. This type was struck SH 1322-1330 and is one of the last silver coins struck for circulation in Iran. While the SH1329 is rare, this date is common in all grades.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.6 g, 0.600 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM-1143.
