This specimen was lot 1293 in Jean Elsen sale 154 (Brussels, March 2023), where it sold for €2,000 (about US$2,590 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRABANT, Duché, Philippe IV (1621-1665), AR ducaton, 1638, Anvers. Deuxième type. Piéfort de poids double. D/ B. dr. et cuir. à d. R/ Ecu couronné, tenu par deux lions. En dessous, le bijou de la Toison d'or. Rare. Fines griffes au droit. Anciennement nettoyé. Très Beau. (duchy of Brabant, Philip IV, 1621-65, silver ducaton of 1638, Antwerp mint, second type, double weight piefort. Obverse: armored bust right; reverse: crowned arms supported by two lions, the jewel of the Golden Fleece below. Rare, light scratches on the obverse with an old cleaning, Very Fine.)"
This double ducaton was produced in small quantities during the reign of Philip IV, mostly for presentation. The SCWC lists the years 1636, 1640-58 and 1662 but other dates exist, as here.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 64.96 g, 0.875 fine silver, this specimen 64,56 g.
