H3067-34099r.jpg

This specimen was lot 34099 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Württemberg. Wilhelm II 2 Mark 1908-F MS66 PCGS, Stuttgart mint. An argent-hued beauty with charcoal accents giving a singular pop to the devices russet sunset tones scattered with cobalt. The reverse is fully in bloom with summery colors, making the visual allure hardly resistable. From the Feeling Good Collection." The silver two mark replaced the old gulden (10.58 g, 0.900 fine) struck in south Germany prior to unification. This two mark piece was struck at the Stuttgart mint (mintmark "F") for the kingdom of Württemberg, a member of the German Empire. This type was struck 1892-93, 1896-1908, 1912-14 along with silver three and five mark and gold ten and twenty mark pieces. The two mark is common.

Recorded mintage: 451,370.

Specification: 11.11 g, 0.900 fine silver, reeded edge, 28 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 631, J-174.
