Prussia 1911-A 3 mark KM-527

Stack's Bowers September 2025 ANA sale, lot 42307

This specimen was lot 42307 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $780. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. 3 Mark, 1911-A. Berlin Mint. Wilhelm II. PCGS PROOF-63 Deep Cameo. A SCARCER proof offering, this Choice specimen remains largely argent and untoned, with some hints of champagne at the peripheries, all while a great cameo nature is evident across both sides. From the C. Knox Collection." This type was struck 1908-12 and is common. After the monetary reform of 1873, the only pre-reform German coins still permitted to circulate were the old vereinsthaler (18.52 g, 0.900 fine silver) at a value of three mark. No three mark were minted to replace them until 1908, thirty five years after the reform.

Recorded mintage: 3,241,710 plus a few proofs.
