Peru 1908 dinero rev DSLR.jpg

This dinero, or dime, was struck 1888-1916 in Lima, Peru, in respectable numbers. Many were saved and uncirculated specimens are available. Most issued after 1898 were made from melted down one sol coins. A earlier type, with a slightly different figure of seated Liberty, was issued 1863-77 (KM 190). The silver coin was replaced in 1918 by a copper-nickel ten centavos. Varieties exist, including an 1908/6.

Recorded mintage: 200,000.

Specification: 2.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 204.2.
