Künker sale 423, lot 37

This specimen was lot 37 in Künker Auction 423 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €700 (about US$991 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Erzherzog Ferdinand, 1564-1595. 1/2 Guldentaler (30 Kreuzer) 1566, Mühlau. Geharnischtes Hüftbild r. mit Erzherzogshut, mit der Rechten das Zepter schulternd, die Linke am Schwertgriff, unten in einem Kreis die Wetzel 30//Mehrfeldiges Wappen (Ungarn, Böhmen / Kastilien und León / Österreich und Burgund), mit Mittelschild (Tirol), oben und zu den Seiten große Verzierungen. RR Sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 90, Osnabrück 2004, Nr. 6833. (Holy Roman Empire, archduke Ferdinand, 1564-95, half guldenthaler or thirty kreuzer of 1566, Mühlau. Obverse: capped and armored half-length bust right, holding a scepter and sword, the value below; reverse: manifold arms of Hungary, Bohemia, Castile, Leon, Austria and Burgundy with the escutcheon of Tyrol and arabesques on the top and sides. Very rare, very fine.)"

At this time, the half gulden or thirty kreuzer was five-twelfths of a thaler.
