This specimen was lot 4620 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €850 (about US$1,112 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH. Maximilian II. 1564-1576. Guldentaler (60 Kreuzer) 1572, Kuttenberg. Münzmeister Jiri Satny und Samuel Vodolinsky. Hübsche Patina, kl. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, sehr schön/vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Maximilian II, 1564-76, gulden thaler of 1572, Kuttenberg mint. Handsome patina, rim bumps, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This gulden is a product of the Kuttenberg mint in Bohemia. At this time, the gulden was sixty kreuzer while the thaler was 72 kreuzer, making the gulden 5/6 of a thaler. In the next century, the gulden would remain sixty kreuzer but the thaler would rise to ninety kreuzer.
