This specimen was lot 5308 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $109.25. The catalog description<sup>[2]</sup> noted, "Australia. Sixpence, 1960. Elizabeth II. NGC graded Proof 65." The regular issue is common but the proofs are not. The type was struck in large quantities 1955-64 and was the last sixpence struck in Australia. An earlier type, struck 1953-54, featured a slightly different obverse legend, "ELIZABETH.II.DEI.GRATIA.REGINA." Sterling coinage ceased after 1964 and in 1966, the Australian dollar was introduced.
