This specimen was lot 23034 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Threepence 1914, MS64 PCGS, very scarce in this designation. The surfaces are original and toned in a mottled olive with a small dark spot at 2 o'clock on the obverse." This type was struck at the London mint 1911-15, at Heaton 1914-15 and the Melbourne mint 1916-36 tho not all dates bear mintmarks. This date is scarce but not the key. Australia maintained the sterling silver standard until 1945, years after [[Great Britain]] had debased her coins to .500 fine.
