France 1916 10 centimes rev DSLR.jpg

The specimen shown is a ten centimes of a type struck under the Third Republic of France 1898-1921. All are Paris mint issues. There are 31 dates in the series, some expensive but only the 1905 is rare. Some of the 1916's have a star to mark planchets sourced from Madrid and Berne. The total production for the series is about 122 million. The design was also used on bronze one, two and five centimes of the Belle Epoque. All the bronze ten centimes pieces were demonetized in 1935. A few patterns of the Lindauer type (F.137/3) were struck in nickel in 1916 but are rare.

Recorded mintage: 22,477,154, a common date.

Specification: 10 g, bronze, 30 mm diameter, plain edge, designed by Jean-Baptiste Daniel-Dupuis (1849-99).

Catalog reference: F.136/26, KM 843.
