This specimen was lot 1929 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$743 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIEN Venedig Francesco Erizzo, 1631-1646. Scudo della croce o. J. Gutes vorzüglich. (republic of Venice doge Francesco Erizzo, 1631-46, scudo 'of the cross', good extremely fine.)"
These scudi, like many Venetian coins, are not dated but, by judicious use of the mintmaster's initials, the date of issue may be narrowed to a few years, in this case, 1639-40. The type is not exorbitantly priced but is seldom seen.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 31.83 g, .948 fine silver; this specimen is 31.56 g.
Catalog reference: Paolucci p. 96, 9, Dav-4249.
