The first specimen was lot 5085 in Goldberg sale 69 (Los Angeles, May, 2012), where it sold for $1,322.50. The catalog description [2] noted, "Italy. 5 Lire, 1911-R. Victor Emmanuel III, 1900-1946. For the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the kingdom Head left. Reverse: Allegorical figures, a factory, prow of a ship. Lustrous with a hint of golden toning. Popular one year type. Scarce. NGC graded AU-58." The second specimen was lot 1397 in Sincona sale 6 (Zürich, May 2012), where it sold for 1100 CHF (about US$1,354 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
