Sincona sale 88, lot 155

This specimen was lot 155 in Sincona sale 88 (Zürich, May 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Qajar Dynasty, Fath-'Ali Shah, 1212-1250 AH (1797-1834). Toman 1222 AH (1807), Rasht Mint. Sehr selten, Angebohrt auf der Rückseite; Very rare. NGC UNC Details. Test drilling on reverse. Purchased from S. Cordry, San Diego, California, in 1987."

This gold denomination was struck at numerous mints during the reign of Fath 'Ali Shah. This style and weight standard is listed in the SCWC as type T, a better type. This style was also struck at Kashan (KM 741.1) and Yazd (KM 741.2).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 5.76 g, gold, this specimen 5.71 g.
