Zurich 1776 1/2 ducat Fr-487b

Sincona sale 35, lot 5517

This specimen was lot 5517 in Sincona sale 35 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 1,000 CHF (about US$1,187 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"Zurich | Stadt, Halbdukat 1776. Fast FDC. Attraktive Erhaltung. (city of Zürich, half ducat of 1776. About uncirculated, Beautiful condition.)"

This type was struck 1776 only but is more common than the issue of 1718-67 (Fr-487a).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.75 g, .979 fine gold, .055 troy oz AGW; this specimen is 1.74 g.
