The first coinage reform in the Papal States was implemented in the early 1830's during the reign of Gregory XVI (1831-46). All the doppie, zecchini, guili, testoni, etc., were dropped in favor of a silver [[Papal States 1831-B scudo Dav-191|scudo]] divided into one hundred baiocchi. Gold one, [[Papal States 1835-R 2-1/2 scudi Fr-267|2½]], [[Papal States 1836-R 5 scudi|five]] and [[Papal States 1836-R 10 scudi|ten scudi]] were minted at Rome and Bologna until 1865. This specimen was lot 1603 in Sincona sale 38 (Zurich, May 2017), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$1,919 including buyer's fees). Sincona sale 38, lot 1603
