from Stephen Album sale 41, lot 3010
SA41-3010r.jpg

This specimen was lot 3010 in Stephen Album sale 41 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "COOK ISLANDS: AV 25 dollars, 1990, KM-83, Endangered Wildlife - Bison, Proof." The Cook Islands, like many small, impoverished nations, has contracted with private mints to produce and market a large variety of commemoratives marketed in lands far from the issuing country. This NCLT actually shows a cougar, not a bison. Many other North American animals were featured in this series.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.21 g, 0.999 fine gold.

Catalog reference: KM 85.
