This specimen was lot 3232 in Aureo y Calicó sale 422 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 21 € (about US$27 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted, "Islas Cook. 1989. Isabel II 50 dólares. Juegos Olímpicos - Barcelona '92. Atletismo. AG. Proof." The Cook Islands, like many small, impoverished nations, has contracted with private mints to produce and market a large variety of commemoratives sold in lands far from the issuing country. This one was for the 1992 Olympics and honored the biathlon.
