This specimen was lot 7134 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "GIBRALTAR. Crown, 2002. NGC PROOF-70 Ultra Cameo. Deeply reflective fields and highly contrasting frosted devices support the perfect PF-70 UCAM grade from NGC. The present example has a fascinating metallic mixture of 50% gold and 50% silver making it an interesting addition to any modern collection." This is from a series of NCLT's struck for Gibraltar in 2002 honoring various ancient coins made from electrum, a naturally occurring alloy of silver and gold. Four designs are noted in the SCWC (KM 1058, 1059, 1060, 1061).
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 31.10 g, 0.500 fine silver, 0.500 fine gold, AGW: .4495 oz.
