Stephen Album sale 43, lot 1378

This specimen was lot 1378 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it sold for $4,500. The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY: Haakon VII, 1905-1957, AE 5 øre, 1912, better date, PCGS graded MS65 BN." This type was struck in 1908, 1911-16, 1921-23, 1928-41 and 1951-52. The monogram is of the new king, Haakon VII. This module was used for this denomination until 1973, with interruptions during the two world wars. This specimen realized over five times the catalog value.

Recorded mintage: 520,000, a scarce date.

Specification: 8 g, bronze, 27 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-368.
