In 1966, Australia abandoned the sterling coinage she had used since the days of Captain Cook and adopted the decimal dollar and cent. This bust of the queen was introduced in 1999 and still appears on the twenty cent piece. This issue marks the 60th anniversary of the end of World War Two and depicts a returning soldier greeting his family.
Recorded mintage: 33,500,000 plus proofs plus 6,200 in silver and 629 in gold.
Specification: 11.31 g, copper-nickel, 28.65 mm diameter.
