This specimen was lot 2092 in Classical Numismatic Group's auction of the Robert Lissner collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $393.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Republic. 1821-present. AR 1/5 Sol. Lima mint. Dated 1863 YB. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 66. Superb toned iridescent gem. First year of this type." This ''quinto'' was struck 1863-75 in Lima, Peru. Most dates are readily available. Varieties and overdates abound. A later type, with a slightly different figure of seated Liberty, was struck 1888-1917 (KM 205). The type was replaced by a copper-nickel twenty centavos in 1918.
