Jean Elsen sale 143, lot 1055

This specimen was lot 1055 in Jean Elsen sale 143 (Brussels, December 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"TOURNAI, Seigneurie, Albert et Isabelle (1598-1621), réal d'argent, s.d. (1604-1608). D/ Ecu couronné, entouré du collier de la Toison d'or. R/ Croix de Bourgogne sous une couronne, entre les initiales A-E. Très Beau. (lordship of Tournai, Albert and Isabella, 1598-1621, undated silver real of 1604-08. Obverse: crowned arms, Order of the Golden Fleece around; reverse: Burgundian cross under a crown divides the initials "A-E". Very Fine.)"

The SCWC notes that a few of this type come dated 1608. One réal d'argent was five sols. A few were also struck in Brabant (KM 25).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.06 g, 0.896 fine silver, this specimen 2,98 g.
