This specimen was lot 1708 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,200 (about US$1,617 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"KAISERREICH ÖSTERREICH, Franz Josef I. 1848-1916. Gulden 1875. Gedenkmünze auf die "Saigerteufe in Pribram" (im Albrechts-Schacht wurde eine Tiefe von 1.000 m erreicht). Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Erstabschlag, Stempelglanz. (Empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, gulden of 1875. Pattern coin on the discovery of the "Pribram Lode" in the Albrecht mine. Very scarce in this quality, proof example.)"
While we feel that the SCWC is correct in classifying this as a medal, it has traditionally been catalogued and collected as a coin so we include it here.
Recorded mintage: 8,000.
Specification: 12.34 g, 0.900 fine silver, .357 troy oz AGW, 29.2 mm diameter.
