This specimen was lot 2305 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 1,100 CHF (about US$1,313 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALY | Vatican, Benedikt XIII. Antipapst (Pedro de Luna), 1394-1423 Grosso o. J. Avignon. Sehr selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Papal States, antipope Benedict XIII, 1394-1423, undated grosso, Avignon mint. Very rare, Very fine-extremely fine.)"
Benedict XIII succeeded the antipope Clement VII (Robert of Geneva) in 1394 but failed to unify the Church. His support dwindled after 1409 when yet another antipope (Alexander V) was elected.
