Sedwick Treasure auction 26, lot 763

This specimen was lot 763 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 26 (Winter Park, FL, November 2019), where it sold for $654.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Santiago, Chile, 1 decimo, 1893, NGC MS 67, finest known in NGC census. Near-prooflike luster with choice, frosty details and strong elements of die-clashing on both sides, no marks or wear at all, not just finest known for the date but also top grade for the entire denomination." The condor was displayed on the one décimo piece 1864-94 in several subtypes. This subtype, struck 1879-94, is readily available but scarce in nice condition. An 1893/83 overdate exists along with an 1893/inverted 1893.

Recorded mintage: 516,000.

Specification: 2.5 g, 0.500 fine silver, 18 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-136.3.
