This specimen was lot 24414 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "George VI Proof Sixpence 1946, PR65 PCGS, delicate silvery gold toning, a lovely example of the very rare Proof of Record of this year, last of the silver issues." This type was issued in large numbers 1937-46 but the proofs are rare. Sixpences minted 1947-70 were copper-nickel.

Recorded mintage: 43,466,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 2.82 g, 0.500 fine silver, 19.5 mm diameter.
